Mike poses with his recognition award.

Just as the picture depicts above, FHTRC maintenance manager Mike was always ready with a warm smile.  Mike helped out at Flint Hills TRC for three and a half years, and he took great pride in embellishing the family atmosphere that uplifts all individuals who visit the property.  Our sympathy and love go out to his family and friends.

Mike taught us all the gift of serving others, we will miss him, but always remember him as we continue to help others one ride at a time!

Samantha Bogan to Attend Riding School Former Flint Hills Equine Manager, Samantha Bogan left in early June to attend Meredith Manor in Waverly, West Virginia.  Her course of study will be a year and a half.  Sam plans to graduate in November 2010 as a certified professional horseback rider and equine business manager.  This is a natural career path for her, having grown up with horses.  She owes a great deal to her mother for her rising star as a horsewoman. Sam explained her mother’s role as mentor, “My mom is the one who got me into horses. She put me on a horse for the first time when I was 6 months old. I’ve learned just about everything from her. Plus she was my very first trainer. She has driven me to every show, lesson, and clinic. She’s very supportive of my riding.” Sam has competing for the past ten years in Three Day Eventing Trials in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas. Her trainer, Becky Moore, has competed in advanced levels in England. Sam has also attended clinics with Captain Mark Phillips, a former coach for the US Eventing Team.  Additionally, Sam has attended clinics with Joan Harris and John Staples. Sam owns two horses. Dutch is a 17 year old foundation Quarter Horse who is 17.3 hands. She has just retired this big boy from jumping.  Her other horse is Smacker, a rescued ex-race horse. She has taken him to a couple of shows and is currently working with him on jumping.  Upon arriving at Meredith Manor Sam underwent a three day riding evaluation. Smacker accompanied her to school.  The two of them will be training together. We appreciate Sam’s service to Flint Hills as equine manager and extend our best wishes to her in her academic and professional endeavors!
