Meet Brandy!

Brandy is 16 and has been volunteering at Flint Hills TRC since September 2008.  She does side walking, horse leading and works in the back barn as needed, she is currently volunteering two days a week.  Brandy is a junior at Andover Central High School. She has been taking English riding lessons for many years and purchased her own horse (Belle) in October 2005. She has continued with her riding lessons and her and Belle love to jump.  Brandy really enjoys working with the clients and the other volunteers, she says nothing beats the good feeling that volunteering gives her, not to mention that it's just plain fun!! She would like to see more people her age get involved.

Meet Sophia Schmidt, 2009 Volunteer of the Year!

Sophia is in the 7th Grade in Andover.  Sophia is here several days a week (We think she would sleep here if her parents would let her) and helps in every way possible. Sophia is a huge help in the back barn.  She brings in the horses, brushes them and helps with tacking and untacking them.  She is a whiz at cleaning stalls and helps with feedings.  She leaves the back barn clean as a whistle.  We are so happy to have her!  Congratulations Sophia!

Meet Margaret & Sharon!

Margaret is a double dipper here are Flint Hills.  She is both a client and a volunteer.  Due to Margarets MS she can not side walk or horse lead, but again is a HUGE help in the back barn. Margaret and her sister Sharon come in weekly and bring horses in from the pasture, brush them and tack them up for lessons.  They clean stalls and generaly help us keep things tidy.  We couldn't do our jobs without them!!

Come have fun with us!!
